Save the Crime Victims Fund

Having just observed the 20th anniversary of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and its hallmark feature, the Crime Victims Fund, that relies on criminal fines, forfeitures and assessments instead of taxpayer dollars to support victim services, the Administration is proposing rescission of the Crime Victims Fund as part of its FY 2006 budget. That would mean no funds will be available at the start of FY 2007 putting essential funding for some 4,400 direct services programs in serious jeopardy.
